Men's Tennis Continues Play at Southern Intercollegiate

ATHENS, Ga. - Junior Andres Rojas (Guatemala City, Guatemala) advanced to the quarterfinals of the consolation round in Division III singles as the Dolphins continued play in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Rojas won the first set over Diego Flores of Georgia Southern, 6-0, and had a 1-0 lead in the second set before Flores retired. Senior Rich Davoli (Abington, Pa.) also played in the Division III consolation round and fell to Taavd Roos of Armstrong Atlantic, 6-2, 6-4. Freshman Brian Garfield (Los Gatos, Ca.) dropped his consolation match as well to Trey Brower of Memphis, 6-2, 6-4.
In Division I doubles play, Peter Wietrak (Bensalem, Pa.) and Christoph Mueller (Waldsassen, Germany) lost, 8-2, to Ormaza and Gonzalez of Georgia. Garfield and Rojas dropped their Division II doubles match to Kader of William and Mary and Reynolds of the College of Charleston, 8-5, while Davoli and Ryan Lang (Sarasota, Fla.) fell to Bowman and Kling of the College of Charleston, 8-4.
The Southern Intercollegiate Championships continue Sunday, Sept. 21 in Athens, Ga. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
