Men's Tennis sweeps Gardner-Webb, 7-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU men's tennis team won 6-of-6 singles matches and captured the double point to earn its fourth win of the season defeating Gardner-Webb, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.
JU (4-5) sophomore Martin Hehensteiger (Schechen, Germany) won at No. 1 singles in two sets defeating Phil Skelton, 6-0, 6-0. Junior Ben Birkmann (Bremen, Germany) won at No. 2 singles over Brian Edmonds, 6-0, 6-2. Also taking singles matches were junior Christoph Mueller (Waldsassen, Germany) beat Roberto Vasques at No. 3 (6-2, 6-0), and junior Andres Rojas (Guatemala City, Guatemala) defeating Kim Ellis at No. 4 (3-6, 6-4, 10-6). Freshman Neil Sehgal (Cincinnati, Ohio) who took the No. 5 singles match defeated Mike Osbourne (7-6, 6-), along with freshman Brian Garfield (Los Gatos, Ca.) winning No. 6 singles over Daniel Abrahao, 1-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Birkmann and Mueller earned the win in No. 1 doubles over Skelton and Osbourne, 8-3. Hehensteiger and Sehgal combined to defeat Abrahao and Phillips at No. 2 doubles, 8-0, while Rojas and Garfield took No. 3 doubles defeating Vasques and Edmonds, 8-6.
