Men's Tennis falls to UT-Chattanooga, 4-3

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The JU men's tennis team won 2-of-6 singles matches and captured the double point falling to UT-Chattanooga, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.

JU (5-7) junior Ben Birkmann (Bremen, Germany) defeated Alex Mabred, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 sinlges, while sophomore Martin Hehensteiger (Schechen, Germany) won at No. 2 singles in two sets defeating John Hangstefer, 6-2,6-0. Junior Christoph Mueller (Waldsassen, Germany) pushed Thomas Knizat to three matches, but lost at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

Brikmann and Mueller combined to capture the No. 1 doubles over Knizat and Fynn, 8-5, while Hehensteiger and Sehgal beat Navarro and Hangstefer at No. 2 doubles, 9-7.

JU will play Hampton Univeristy on Friday, March 12th at 10:00 a.m. at the Alexander Brest Tennis Complex.
