Hehensteiger and Birkmann Earn All-Atlantic Sun Honors in Tennis

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore Martin Hehensteiger (Schechen, Germany) earned first team all-conference honors after posting a 20-7 record in singles play and a 20-4 mark at doubles, while junior Ben Birkmann (Bremen, Germany) was tabbed second-team all-conference after going 17-6 in singles play and 15-7 at doubles, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.

Freshman Peter Wietrak (Bensalem, Pa.) earned A-Sun Freshman All-Conference honors after nine matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.

Birkmann earned first-team honors last season as well as honorable-mention all-conference and freshman all-conference honors as a freshman. Hehensteiger earned second-team all-conference and freshman all-conference honors last season.

The Dolphins finished the regular season with an 8-12 overall record and a 3-1 conference mark and captured the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Sun Championship.
