Feb. 9, 2003

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University softball team's game against Ole Miss was canceled due to rain Sunday in the Dolphins' final game at the UCF/Triple Crown Classic at Treaty Park in St. Augustine. JU finishes the tournament 1-3. The Dolphins defeated Arkansas on Friday, 3-2, for their first victory in their inaugural season. The game started amid cold and rainy conditions, but the rain would not hold off and the umpires called the game in the third inning.

On Friday, JU lost its first game to Evansville, 6-5, but defeated Arkansas, 3-2, in eight innings for its first victory of the season. The Dolphins dropped their first game yesterday to Tennessee, 10-2, finishing second in pool B heading into bracket play. JU faced the Lady Volunteers once again in the afternoon, falling 6-1.

JU (1-6) returns to action next weekend, Feb. 15-17, at the South Florida/Wilson Tournament in Tampa, Fla. The Dolphins face Hofstra at 10:00 a.m. and South Florida at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
