TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Jacksonville University freshman Katie Dobson (Clearwater, Fla.) struck out a season-high 12 and pitched her 10th-consecutive complete game to lead the Dolphins to a 3-1 win over South Carolina St. in their first game Friday at the Lady Rattler Invitational hosted by Florida A&M. JU cruised past Grambling St., 9-1, in six innings in its second game. With the two victories, the Dolphins improve to 12-15 on the season.

Shortstop Dianna Korcak (Clearwater, Fla.) led the Dolphins offensively in their first game, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBI, a double and a run. Rightfielder Jill Bandhauer (Crystal River, Fla.) finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in the second game against the Lady Tigers, while junior Bridget Starry (San Diego, Calif.) went 3-for-4 with two runs.

In JU's first game against the Bulldogs, the Dolphins broke a scoreless tie in the third as Korcak led off the inning with a single and later stole second. Korcak was able to score on a throwing error from shortstop Nakeya Hall after reaching third on a fielder's choice from Sonja Cadarette (Jacksonville/Sandalwood) to give JU a 1-0 advantage.

Korcak sparked the Dolphins once again in the sixth delivering a two-out two-run double down the left field line scoring Ashley Houston (Glen St. Mary, Fla.) and Lisa Dronkers (Green Cove Springs, Fla.) to give JU a 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs mounted a small rally in the seventh scoring an unearned run, but Dobson (5-9) struck out Jasm Houston for her 12th strikeout to end the game.

Bandhauer, Dronkers and first baseman Ronda Campo (Kirkland, Wash.) each had a hit for the Dolphins against the Bulldogs.

In game two, the Lady Tigers took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Tremeka Todd had an RBI single. JU scored two runs in the bottom of the inning with two outs as Starry and Bandhauer got things going with back-to-back singles. Starry was able to score on an error from second baseman LaToya Watson and freshman Melissa Coburn (Crystal River, Fla.) singled home Bandhauer to make it 2-1 JU. The Dolphins added two more runs in the fourth as Houston, Dronkers and Monica McGee (Starke, Fla.) delivered consecutive singles to load the bases. Korcak grounded out to the second baseman allowing Houston to score and Dronkers scored on a wild pitch.

The Dolphins tacked on three more runs in the fifth as Starry scored on an error from Watson with Cadarette collecting the RBI and Coburn delivered a sacrifice fly scoring Cadarette to make it 7-1. The game was stopped in the sixth due to the eight-run mercy rule as Bandhauer had a two-run single to give the Dolphins a 9-1 advantage.

Starry (5-6) earned the victory pitching 6.0 innings, while recording five strikeouts without allowing a walk. Dronkers paced the Dolphins at the plate finishing 2-for-3 with a run, while McGee went 2-for-2 with a walk.
