Final Stats

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Freshman Katie Buell (Alpharetta, Ga.) fired her first career no-hitter, while senior Dianna Korcak (Clearwater, Fla.) had two triples on the day as the Dolphins swept Savannah State, 16-0 and 16-0, in a doubleheader at the JU Softball Complex on Wednesday afternoon. Buell struck out 11 batters in game one for her first career no-hitter as a Dolphin. Korcak earned a triple in each game bringing her season total to 13. Junior Stacey Bell (Jacksonville/Terry Parker) shut out the Tigers in game two, allowing two hits while striking out nine.

Senior centerfielder Monica McGee (Starke, Fla.) had five hits and picked up her second triple of the season in game two, while Korcak had four hits and two triples. Senior second baseman Ronda Campo (Shoreline, Wash.) had three hits on the day, while freshman first baseman Kim Burns (Jacksonville/Arlington Country Day) picked up her first double of the season in game two.

After leading 6-0 in game one, JU blew the game open with a eight-run third and cruised to the 16-0 victory. The nightcap was much of the same as the Dolphins scored 4 runs in the first and 12 runs in the final three innings for the 16-0 win. JU is now 8-0 against Savannah State all-time after sweeping all four games from the Tigers last season.

JU returns to action Friday April 16 for Senior Day at the JU Softball Complex. The Dolphins will face Belmont in an Atlantic Sun Doubleheader starting 3:00 p.m.
