Softball Inks Two During Fall Signing Period

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University softball team announced the signing of third baseman/catcher Beth Glasscock of Leitchfield, Ky., and pitcher Amber Janowski of Pottsville, Pa., head coach Jeff Franquet announced today.

Glasscock, who led Grayson County High School to two straight regional runner-up finishes, hit .511 with 11 home runs and 54 RBIs as a junior en route to Class AAA First-Team All-State honors. Glasscock, who was also selected for the Kentucky Junior All-Stars, is a three-time all-district and all-region selection. She has batted .426 while driving in 120 RBIs for the Cougars over her three-year career.

Janowski went 23-8 for Pottsville Area High School over the last two years, including a 17-4 mark with a 0.96 earned run average and 173 strikeouts in 146 innings pitched as a junior. She was named pitcher of the year that same season after leading the Crimson Tide to a Co-Schuylkill League Championship title and a second-place finish in the district playoffs. Janowski also hit .369 at the plate with 11 runs and 19 RBIs.

JU opens its third season of softball in February, with the Dolphins hosting 26 games at the JU Softball Complex. Seven starters return from a 2004 squad that went 22-42.
