JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior first baseman/catcher Lauren Redfern (Jacksonville/Sandalwood) earned First-Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III honors for the University division, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Redfern now moves on to the national ballot, which will be released on June 2. Redfern is the second straight Dolphin to earn the honor, following Dianna Korcak (Clearwater, Fla.), who received Second-Team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors last year.

Redfern, who received First-Team Atlantic Sun All-Conference honors on Tuesday, has set new career records in home runs (10), doubles (29), runs batted in (70), hit by pitches (8) and defensive chances (780) in just her second year at JU. The NCAA leader with 25 doubles, she came into the Atlantic Sun Championship standing third in the conference in on-base percentage (.479), fourth in batting average (.393) and fifth in slugging percentage (.683).

The Sandalwood product, who has played in all 128 games as a Dolphin, also holds 12 single-season offensive records, including total bases (125), sacrifice flies (3) and doubles (25). She also had an 11-game hitting streak this season, the fourth longest in program history.

The sixth-seeded Dolphins take on top seed Troy in the opening round of the Atlantic Sun Championship at 11 a.m. Thursday at FAU Field.
