"I was disappointed about how timid we were in the first couple of innings in both games," said JU head coach Melissa Gentile. "Our offense started to pick up in the later parts of both games and I was happy to see that. I expect us to be stronger in first and second innings from now on this season."
In game one, the Red raiders (2-0) grabbed the initial lead when Brady Moulin drove in Ashley Parker on the groundout off of sophomore pitcher Shannon Jensen in the first inning.
Senior Lindsay Freitag led off the second inning with a double down the left field line for the Dolphins (0-2). With one out, Freitag reached third on a sacrifice bunt from Jensen. Freshman Alexis Novak came to pinch hit, but was unable to score Freitag as she grounded out to third base to end the inning.
