Ashley Iveson named Atlantic Sun Conference “Pitcher of the Week”
Junior Ashley Iveson was flawless in the circle last week for the JU softball team, which has earned her Atlantic Sun Conference “Pitcher of the Week” honors.

The Kissimmee, Fla. native posted a 3-0 record with a 2.02 ERA in five appearances and three starts to help pace the Dolphins to five wins in six games. She also struck out 10 batters in 17.1 innings, while allowing a staff-low 15 hits and five earned runs

Iveson becomes the second Dolphin pitcher to earn the honor this season after freshman Sarah Sigrest got the weekly accolade on March 2. This is also the first time in school history that the Dolphins have earned the conference weekly honor more than once in a season.

This is a great honor for Ashley and for the program,” said JU head coach Amanda Lehotak. “Ashley is starting to find her groove again and is coming on strong at the right time.”

Iveson opened the week by earning both wins in JU’s doubleheader sweep against Brown on March 24. In game one, she allowed one run on two hits and fanned three batters in five innings. She earned the game two win after allowing one run on three hits in 2.1 innings of relief.

On March 27, Iveson earned the win in JU’s 9-7 game two victory over Belmont by surrendering one run on three hits and striking out two in 2.2 relief innings. She finished the week with 4.1 scoreless innings against Lipscomb to get a no-decision.

Iveson and the Dolphins return to the diamond on Wednesday for an A-Sun doubleheader against cross-town rival North Florida at the JU Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
