Senior Ashley Iveson named A-Sun “Pitcher of the Week”
Senior Ashley Iveson broke two different JU softball program records last week en route to earning Atlantic Sun Conference “Pitcher of the Week” accolades.

Iveson recorded a 0.47 ERA and struck out 17 batters, while holding opponents to a .115 batting average in 15 innings of work in three appearances.

Against Kennesaw State (4/29), Iveson set the new JU single season record in wins with her 16th victory after scattering two hits and fanning 11 batters to get her seventh complete-game shutout of the year. Her 11 strikeouts also was her sixth double-digit strikeout effort of the season, setting a new single-season record.

Iveson allowed one run on four hits and four strikeouts in the game one loss at Mercer (4/30), but bounced back with two strikeouts in two scoreless relief frames in game two to help JU get the win.

“I’m happy for Ashley to get this award,” said JU head coach Amanda Lehotak. “She has been the cornerstone of our staff this year and this honor is well-deserved. Ashley wants to finish the year strong and she will one of the keys to our success if we want to win a conference championship.”

Iveson, who earns her second career honor, is the fourth Dolphin to receive conference weekly accolade this year after junior Katie Kelly, sophomore Kayla Shavers and Amanda Schmidt each earned the offensive award.

The Dolphins return to action on tomorrow when they travel to Orlando, Fla. to face UCF in a single game at 5 p.m.
