BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The JU softball team dropped two games to Campbell on Friday, losing 4-0 in game one before falling 2-1 in game two in Buies Creek, N.C.

Sophomore third baseman Beth Glasscock delivered an RBI in the seventh in game two to cut the lead in half, but unfortunately that was all the Dolphins could manage.

After giving up two runs in the bottom of the first, sophomore pitcher Brittany Abbott was replaced by sophomore Ashley Iveson with two on and no outs.

Iveson got out of the inning and kept the Camels at bay until the fifth inning when Campbell added two runs, with the RBIs coming from a blooping single by Shayla Cullum and a single through the right side by Amanda Miller.

The Dolphins had three hits in game one, coming from freshman shortstop Katie Kelly, sophomore second baseman Kelly McKeon and freshman right fielder Katarina Engler. Campbell had six hits.

Abbott gave up two runs on two hits, while walking two. Iveson gave up two runs in six innings while striking out nine.

Brittany Stanley (17-7) recorded her sixth shutout of the season for the Camels, giving up three hits and one walk, while striking out seven.

Cullum had a two-run home run in the first inning of game two and Campbell was threatening again in the bottom of the second, but a fake throw by Glasscock allowed her to tag the runner out at third base after a run down involving her and sophomore catcher Ashley Mora.

Freshman center fielder Kayla Ouellet doubled in the top of the third, but she was left stranded.

Glasscock's single scored McKeon in the seventh to make the score 2-1.

Senior pitcher Shannon Jensen took the loss in game two, pitching six innings, while giving up two runs and striking out two.

The Dolphins will be back in action on Tuesday, hosting Florida A&M on Senior Night at the JU Softball Complex in a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
