Softball appears in latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll
For the second straight year, the JU softball team is getting recognized nationally as they received a vote in the latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll.

The Dolphins (35-14, 14-2 A-Sun), who garnered votes last season in the Ultimate Collegiate Softball Top 25 poll, have won 17 of their last 19 contests to gain a two-game lead in the A-Sun standings and secure a vote this week’s poll. They are also one a win shy of setting the new program record for wins and are currently riding a seven-game winning streak.

JU’s pitching staff is largely responsible to the current success by posting the sixth-best ERA nationally with a 1.40. Junior Sarah Sigrest is 15th nationally in ERA (1.14) and shutouts (8) for JU.

“We are really excited to be recognized,” said JU head coach Amanda Lehotak. “We are focused on getting better and taking care of business the rest of the season. We want to keep competing day in and day out.”

The Dolphins return to action tomorrow against Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Fla. for a single game at 4 p.m. Fan can follow the action on live stats or video streaming through ustream.tv by logging onto JUDolphins.com.
