JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – During its final week of regular-season action, Jacksonville University softball is hosting non-conference Bethune-Cookman in a double-header on Wednesday, April 23. This is JU's final home game of the 2014 season.
The first game is slated for 4 p.m. with the second to follow at the JU Softball Complex.
The Fins (16-28, 6-15 Atlantic Sun) most recently fell 4-3 to ETSU last Saturday in a seven-inning shortened game that was called due to lightning and poor weather. The remaining two games, moved to Sunday, April 20, were cancelled because of poor field conditions.
Freshman Charli Bradshaw (.354) leads Jacksonville at the plate for the eighth consecutive week, followed by Emily Sanchez (.309) and Cecile Gomez (.304). Bradshaw and Sanchez have combined for three home runs in the last three games as Bradshaw hit one solo shot at Georgia Southern in game one and Sanchez hit one apiece in the last two contests.
In the circle, sophomore Victoria Brown (7-10) still holds a 3.40 ERA over 121.1 innings tossed.
Bethune-Cookman (18-25, 8-1 MEAC) holds a 6-6 road record and most recently swept its series at North Carolina A&T April 18-19.
Melissa Berouty (.333), Calesha Shelley (.327) and Kelsey Rodney (.325) lead at-bat while Sabrina Anguiano (9-13) holds a 3.35 ERA over 150.2 innings pitched.
All-time, Jacksonville is 12-5 against Bethune-Cookman.
