JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University (5-4) returns home Friday for a weekend series against Valparaiso University (2-4). In their only previous matchup, the Dolphins crushed the Crusaders 23-14 at John Sessions Stadium on February 28, 2010.

The Dolphins dropped a heartbreaker in a walk-off loss to Bethune-Cookman (6-2) at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Wednesday, and took #3 Florida State (6-2) to the wire but couldn't overcome four errors on Tuesday.

Scouting the Opponents

Valparaiso is 2-4 this season, but has improved in its win total in each of the previous three seasons under head coach Brian Schmack, including a 30-28 season in 2016. The Crusaders are led offensively by Nate Palace, who is hitting .579 with 11 hits and six RBI in 19 at-bats this season. Grant Inman, who will face the Dolphins on Sunday, leads the pitching staff with two wins, a 1.80 ERA, and 10 hits allowed in 10 innings of work.

On Deck

The Dolphins will travel down to USF on Tuesday and host North Florida on Wednesday.
