Dolphins Take Ninth Straight in Pitching Duel

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Thanks to a no-hitter by Michael Baumann through six innings and two shutout innings from Matt Meyer, Jacksonville University (21-16, 7-1 ASUN) took down Lipscomb University (17-16, 3-5 ASUN) 2-1 on Friday. The Dolphins have now won nine straight, and will go for the season series sweep of the Bisons on Saturday with Casey Kulina (2-0) on the mound.

"It's great to secure the series win," said Head Coach Chris Hayes. "Lipscomb is a good ball club. They're very well-coached, fundamentally sound, and they pitched extremely well today. But Michael Baumann was something else today. He was at his finest today, and outside of that one inning where he lost a bit of command, he was as dominant as he's ever been in a Dolphin uniform."

Nathan Koslowski led off the game with a double to left, and was singled home two batters later by Angel Camacho, who has now collected a hit in all nine of the Dolphins' win streak. After one JU led 1-0.

With two outs in the fourth Ruben Someillan imitated Koslowski with a double to left, and Dakota Julylia singled him home to give the Dolphins a 2-0 advantage after four.

Lipscomb broke up Baumann's no-hitter in the seventh with one out. The Bisons homered deep over the left field wall on an 0-1 count. But consecutive popouts drew the Bison scoring to a close, and after seven JU still held a 2-1 lead.

Meyer allowed just one hit in the final two innings, holding the Bison bats in check. The final from John Sessions Stadium: Jacksonville 2, Lipscomb 1

"Huge lift for this entire team to have Meyer come in and pound the zone," said Hayes. "He did an incredible job with zero room for error."
