Notae Named NAPA Newcomer Of The Month After Dominant December

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Following double-digit scoring performances in each game over the last month, men's basketball's JD Notae has been selected as the NAPA Newcomer of the Month for December.

The guard from Covington, Ga. has used the past 30 days to establish himself as one of the premier underclassman in the ASUN conference, and has built a case for Newcomer of the Year. In eight contests over the month of December, Notae averaged 17.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assist per game. He shot 43 percent from the field and nearly 41 percent from beyond-the-arc, including knocking down five of six attempted three-pointers against Michigan on Dec. 30. His performance against Middle Georgia State at home on Dec. 28 was a career milestone, as he dropped 30 points and shot 11-16 from the floor.

Notae currently sits at fifth in the ASUN in scoring (15.9 PPG), and leads the conference's freshman in the category. He ranks sixth in free throw percentage (74.5), fourth in minutes-per-game (34.6), and second in steals-per-contest, averaging two a game. His performances over the past month have earned him a pair of ASUN Newcomer of the Week Accolades, as well as the Player of the Week honor for the final week of the month. Notae is just the second player all season to earn Player and Newcomer of the Week honors in the same week, and the only freshman to do so.

Notae joins redshirt-junior Jace Hogan as NAPA Newcomer Honorees from the men's basketball team in 2017. Hogan won the award for the month of November, after averaging 18.8 points during that period.
