Phin Phever Set for Thursday Evening

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The 2018-19 basketball season is upon us and to celebrate; the Jacksonville University men's and women's basketball programs are all set to host Phin Phever, live inside Historic Swisher Gymnasium on Thursday, Oct. 25.

Fans in attendance will have their first opportunity to watch and interact with the 2018-19 men's and women's basketball teams. Coaches and student-athletes alike will take the floor to celebrate the beginning of a new journey and they need your support. This event is free to the general public and will be fun for the whole family.

There will be games and plenty of prizes to go around including free t-shirts and an Apple Watch. Following introductions fans will hear from first-year women's basketball head coach Darnell Haney followed by men's basketball head coach Tony Jasick.

From that point forward the fans in attendance will get to witness the skills of our student-athletes on full display with a hot shot competition, relay races, three-point shootout and a dunk contest. Both the cheer and dance teams will also be on hand to entertain the crowd.

Prior to the event, a pre-season dinner with the men's and women's basketball programs will be held in the Kinne Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the program begins at 6:00 p.m. Dinner guests will have the opportunity to meet the teams and hear directly from our head coaches, Tony Jasick and Darnell Haney. While the evening is free admission for all, we do request an RSVP for the dinner! CLICK HERE to RSVP. Phin Phever will begin inside Swisher Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
