PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Led by Franck Medale's one-under par round, the Jacksonville University men's golf team secured another top-10 finish this season as the John Hayt Intercollegiate concluded its final round today. Action from the 15 team collegiate event held at the par 72, 6,976 yard Sawgrass Country Club contained a three day, 54-hole event in stroke play format which ended Sunday.
Medale would share one of the lowest rounds of the day amongst the 87 student-athlete leaderboard, firing a one-under par 71 in midst of a four birdie day, placing the junior in a tie for 37th, a 25-spot jump from day two to the final.
The Dolphins would take home a share of 9th place, improving from 310 to 299 in strokes and conclude the tournament with a combined 14-over par, 302.
Senior Colin Monagle finished the tournament ahead of teammate Medale in a tie for 34th as he carded rounds of 77-72-78 for the event. Freshman Raul Pereda and senior Brett McKinnon tied for 45th as Pereda shot a four-over 76 and McKinnon with a five-over par, 77. They were both 14-over par over three rounds.
Individual medalist honors is captured by Beau Hossler whom fired a four-under par tournament score, while Texas also gathers the team crown with a combined eight-over par, just six-strokes better than tournament host North Florida.
The Dolphins continue their spring campaign at TPC Myrtle Beach in S.C., when they partake in the General Hacker tournament March 9 through March 10.
