Dolphins’ McKinnon Departs Myrtle Beach with Top-10 Finish

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Paced by an even-par combined score from senior Brett McKinnon, the Jacksonville University men's golf team finished action at the General Hackler Championship today from the par 72, 7,233-yard Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach S.C., in 11th.

McKinnon gained a stroke on the leader on day two, carding one birdie and a string of pars for a one-under par on the 3,618 front nine at The Dunes Golf Club. He completed the 56-holes with one-double bogey and eight birdies.

Monagle bounced back strong in the final round, building off a momentum finish in the second, the senior would card back-to-back birdies to commence the round, finishing at two-over par and 20-over for the tournament. 

The Dolphins would conclude the third round, shaving nine-strokes combined off the second-round of Monday. North Florida claimed the General Hackler championship with a combined three-under par final score.

Pereda returned to familiar form firing two 74s in the tournament bouncing back from a triple-bogey on the third hole of the freshman's morning with three birdies, finishing at two-over.

Junior Medale turned in three rounds in the 70s, his best a two-over par in the first round, finishing the tournament at 12-over par. Senior Salanger improved five-strokes in the final round, finishing with a five-over par and in 75th.
