PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C. – While they weren't quite as dominant today, the men's golf team of Jacksonville University still managed to increase its lead in round two of the GolfWeek Program Challenge, finishing the day with a two-round score of 552.
"I couldn't have been more proud of them today," said Head Coach Mike Blackburn. "They all played great, even though the conditions were tough."
Three of JU's golfers finished under par in the second round. David Wicks again led the Dolphins, completing 18 holes with a score of four-under 68. Wicks is currently in first place. Franck Medale also carded four-under 68, and is currently tied for second place. Ryan Jahn moved up to ninth place today thanks to his card of one-under 71, and Raul Pereda is tied for 16th after missing par by one stroke at one-over 73. Prem Samritpricha had another good day as well, finishing just four-over par at 76, good enough to tie for 73rd overall.
Tomorrow's conditions should be vastly improved over today's cloudy skies and brief rain showers with only partly cloudy skies and a very slight chance of rain in the forecast.
Unlike the women's team, Jacksonville's men's golfers get to sleep in a bit tomorrow. Their tee times begin at 9 a.m. and run until 9:36 a.m. Live stats are available on the schedule tab of the men's golf page at JUDolphins.com.
