MORGANTON, N.C. – Jacksonville University's men's golf team won its third straight tournament Tuesday at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State at Mimosa Hills Golf Club.
"A great, classic course," said Head Coach Mike Blackburn. "My boys had a great team effort today. We were down at the turn today, and each member of the team was able to grit it out and win this thing. Ryan Jahn had a birdie on the fourth right after a double bogey, David Wicks had a birdie to get us back into it, Prem Samritpricha hit an eagle on the 14th, Franck Medale hit a birdie on the 15th, and Sam Uhland had a birdie on the final hole."
David Wicks rebounded from his challenging Monday with a 68, totaling 207 through three rounds to tie for first place with Franck Medale. Medale had a third round of 71, also totaling 207. Sam Uhland continued his impressive freshman campaign with a third round of 72, tying for 15th with a total score of 214. Ryan Jahn swung into a tie for 44th with a three-round score of 221, and Prem Samritpricha carded a 232 to tie for 65th overall.
Tanner Thompson competed at the Ross Intercollegiate as an individual, carding a 245. He finished 77th overall.
Jacksonville won the tournament with a three-round score of 845. Gardner-Webb finished just one stroke behind at 846, and Appalachian State came in third with an 850. Wingate (859) and Wofford (862) rounded out the Top 5. Presbyterian College, Evansville, Stetson, Bucknell University, UT Arlington, Greensboro College, High Point, and North Carolina Central also competed at Mimosa Hills.
Medale and Samritpricha each had one eagle on the course, and Wicks led all scorers in birdies with 13.
