Dolphins Complete First Event of Spring Season

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Jacksonville's men's golf team completed the Sea Best Invitational on Tuesday, hosted by JU on the Dye's Valley course of TPC Sawgrass.

"The best team won," said Head Coach Mike Blackburn. "We played hard; it just wasn't our week. We've got some work to do in the next two weeks before we head down to Gainesville."

Franck Medale led the Dolphins with a 219 total (75-71-73). David Wicks had a 223 (72-74-77), as did Raul Pereda (72-73-78). Ryan Jahn had 227 (76-73-78), and Sam Uhland had 229 (74-79-76).

The Dolphins finished with a three-day total of 888, tying for 12th with Jacksonville State. JU was just one stroke behind 11th-place McNeese State (887).

Florida won the Sea Best Invitational with a score of 826. Liberty came in second with 849, and Arkansas rounded out the Top 3 with an 858.

Florida's Sam Horsfield won the individual title with a three-day total of 203 (65-68-70), and Florida's Alejandro Tosti was second with a total of 206 (64-69-73).

Up next for the Dolphins is the Gator Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 20 & Sunday, Feb. 21.
