Dolphins Outpace Nationally-Ranked Teams in Day One of Gator Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla – The men's golf team of Jacksonville University got off to a great start on Saturday, finishing third after the first two rounds of the Gator Invite. The final round will start at 8 a.m. Sunday. 

David Wicks led the Dolphins in scoring with a two-round total of 133 (66+67). The junior from Bexhill, England, who finished seven-under par, is tied for second place in the individual standings. Franck Medale carded a two-round total of 139 (68+71), tying for 12th at one-under par. Raul Pereda tied for 15th, carding a 140 (68+72) to finish even on the day. Ryan Jahn had 142 (69+73) through two rounds, good enough to tie for 26th at two-over par. Sam Uhland had 151 (80+71) and sits at 11-over par and 68th on the leaderboard.

Tournament host University of Florida is in first after two rounds with a two-round total of 550. The University of South Florida is second with a total of 551, and Jacksonville is third with a total of 552. Vanderbilt University (558) and Florida State University (561) round out the top five.

JU was in sole possession of first after the first round with a total of 272.

Florida (12), South Florida (33), Vanderbilt (19), Florida State (3), the University of North Florida (39), and the University of Alabama-Birmingham (26) are all nationally ranked.

Uhland tees off first for JU at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, followed by Jahn (9:30 a.m.), Pereda (9:40 a.m.), Medale (9:50 a.m.), and Wicks (10:00 a.m.). The weather forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 78 degrees Fahrenheit.
