PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Jacksonville University's men's golf team dropped into a tie for third Saturday on the second round of the John Hayt Invitational despite a lower team score than in the first round.
Raul Pereda is tied for fifth with a two-round score of 145 (71+74). Sam Uhland is just three strokes behind Pereda at 148 (72+76) and is tied for 14th. David Wicks rebounded from one of his worst rounds of golf this season Friday (81) with a second round score of 68. The junior from Bexhill, England, is tied for 21st with a total of 149. Franck Medale has 152 (76+76) after two rounds, and is tied for 34th. Ryan Jahn is tied for 68th with 158 (80+78).
13th-ranked Oklahoma State jumped into first place Saturday with a second round of 281 (seven-under par). The Cowboys have a score of 581 (300+281) after two rounds. In second is 37th-ranked North Florida. The Ospreys have 585 (293+292) after two rounds. 50th-ranked Tennessee (305+288) and Jacksonville (299+294) are tied for third with cards of 593. 38th-ranked UAB rounds out the top five with a total of 596 (307+289).
The Dolphins are ahead of five nationally-ranked teams: UAB (38), East Carolina (43), UCLA (23), Louisville (47), and Liberty (48).
Wicks has 24 pars and six birdies, Medale has 22 pars and four birdies, Uhland has 21 pars and eight birdies, Pereda has 20 pars, seven birdies, and an eagle, and Jahn has 17 pars and three birdies.
Jahn will tee off first for JU at 8:15 a.m., followed by Medale (8:24 a.m.), Wicks (8:33 a.m.), Uhland (8:42 a.m.), and Pereda (8:51 a.m.). The weather forecast for tomorrow's tee time calls for 47 degrees and sunny skies.
