Dolphin Comeback Falls Short in Final Day of Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Despite finishing Sunday with the lowest score of the third round, Jacksonville University's men's golf team couldn't completely make up the deficit in the 2016 Furman Intercollegiate, finishing the tourney in 13th place after starting the day in 17th.

Franck Medale led the Dolphins with a third round of 69, giving the senior a total of 217 (74+74+69). Ryan Jahn concluded a stellar three-day performance with a 72 in the final round, totaling 218 (72+74+72) to finish tied for 32nd. David Wicks also had a third round of 69, putting his total at 219 (74+76+69) and in a tie for 43rd place. With a total of 224 (75+75+74) Sam Uhland tied for 71st, and Raul Pereda carded 70 in the final round to finish tied for 79th with a total of 225 (80+75+70).

Georgia State won the Furman tourney with a total of 841 (285+275+281), 14 strokes ahead of second place Harvard (284+280+292=856). USC Upstate finished third with 857 (289+281+287), Akron finished fourth with 859 (290+276+293), and host school Furman totaled 860 (288+278+294) to finish fifth. Jacksonville finished 13th with 873 (295+298+280).

The Dolphins conclude their season April 17-19 at the Atlantic Sun Championship, which will be hosted at The Legends Course in Braselton, Ga.
