Dolphins Move up to Third in Second Round of A-Sun Championship

BRASELTON, Ga. – The men's golf team of Jacksonville University secured an even-par finish Monday in the second round of the Atlantic Sun conference championship, jumping over Lipscomb and Florida Gulf Coast into third place. The second round score is the lowest for JU in a team championship since 2011.

David Wicks took over sole possession of second place in the second round with an even-par finish, putting his total at 142 (70+72). Franck Medale used the lowest round of the day, a four-under-par 68, to move up 14 spots. The senior from Valence d'Agen, France (77+68) is tied with Sam Uhland (73+72) for ninth place with each totaling 145. Raul Pereda is 23rd after carding a 76 in the second round, putting his two-day total at 150 (74+76). Ryan Jahn, who is currently 35th, withdrew from the second round, but is expected to return in the third round Tuesday.

Kennesaw State leads the field with a team total of 574(283+291), two-under-par. North Florida is in second with 576, and Jacksonville is now third with 582 (294+288). Lipscomb dropped from second place to fourth place (289+299=588), and Florida Gulf Coast dropped from a tie for fourth into fifth with 592 (294+298). USC Upstate is sixth at 595 (301+294), and Stetson is seventh at 625 (308+317).

The Dolphins had 102 holes of par or better, and hit 24 birdies and one eagle. Wicks leads the team with 26 holes of par or better and six birdies. Uhland is now playing under par on Par 3 and Par 5 holes, and Medale and Wicks are under par on Par 5's as well. Medale has the lone Dolphin eagle.

Jahn will tee off first for JU at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, and will be followed by Pereda at 9:39 a.m., Uhland at 9:48 a.m., Medale at 9:57 a.m., and Wicks at 10:06 a.m.

The weather forecast for Tuesday's tee times calls for temperatures around 63 degrees and clear skies overhead, and temperatures are expected to get all the way up to 85 degrees by 3 p.m.
