BRASELTON, Ga. - Jacksonville University's men's golf program returns to the green Monday and Tuesday at the 2016 Bridgestone Match Play. The Dolphins are the defending champions of the event.
"When we first put all of this together, it was really just about getting some playing time on the course that hosts our Atlantic Sun championship tournament," said Head Coach Mike Blackburn to JUDolphins.com after the Dolphins won the event in 2015. "Eight guys came out here, and they were all awesome."
The 7,033-yard, par 72 course will field six teams: Jacksonville, High Point University, Lipscomb University, Presbyterian College, South Alabama, and USC Upstate.
"I'm not entirely sure what to expect this weekend," said Blackburn. "Our guys have been playing well, but you can never really predict what will happen. Hopefully, we'll perform like we did last weekend."
The last time the Dolphins competed at Chateau Elan was the Atlantic Sun Conference championship last season, where Jacksonville finished second (294+288+289=871) and Wicks won the individual championship (70+72+70=212).
The forecast for Monday calls for partly cloudy skies and a temperature around 69 degrees in the morning becoming mostly sunny skies and a high of 82 degrees in the afternoon.
