JACKSONVILLE - In response to Hurricane Matthew, the University of North Carolina has rescheduled the Tar Heel Intercollegiate golf tournament. The Jacksonville University men's golf team will now compete on Friday and Saturday.
The Dolphins are scheduled to play 36 holes Friday, and, if weather permits, will play the final 18 holes on Saturday, with an option to push play back to Sunday.
The 7,220-yard, Par 72 course will field 13 teams and 16 individuals, including Jacksonville, Coastal Carolina, Elon, Furman, Gardner-Webb, Liberty, Maryland, North Carolina, UNCG, UNCW, North Florida, VCU, and Virginia Tech.
This is the first time the Dolphins have competed at the UNC Finley golf course.
The event will begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start. A 90 percent chance of rain is expected at tee time with cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 60s.
