PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Ryan Jahn's career best on Monday led Jacksonville University's men's golf team to its best two rounds of golf at TPC Sawgrass in the nine-year history of the Sea Best Invitational. The Dolphins will wrap up the event Tuesday starting at 8 a.m.
The senior from Jupiter, Fla., carded a 67 in the first round, a new career best. His previous best of 69 came earlier this year at the 2016 Quail Valley Collegiate in Vero Beach, Fla. Jahn finished Monday with a two-round total of 137, also a career best. His previous two-round best, 142 also came in the 2016 Quail Valley Collegiate.
Jahn is currently tied for fourth overall with 137 with eight birdies and 23 holes of par or better. Raul Pereda is tied for 13th with 141 after six birdies. The junior from Cordoba, Mexico, also had 23 holes of par or better to tie for 13th. David Wicks is tied for 47th after two rounds with 148, Elliott Fullalove carded 150 to tie for 62nd, and Sam Uhland is tied for 67th with 151. Zachary Alligood, who competed as an individual, is 79th with a two-round total of 159.
#2 The University of Florida currently leads team competition with a two-round total of 552, one stroke ahead of second place North Carolina. Lipscomb University is third with 561, Florida State is fourth with 562, and Arkansas is fifth with 563. North Florida is sixth with 565, Liberty is seventh with 569, and Jacksonville is eighth with 571.
The final round the 2017 Sea Best Invitational will start Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. with a double tee. Partly cloudy skies are expected all day with a high around 75 degrees.
