Dolphins Close Wolfpack Intercollegiate in Second Place

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Jacksonville University men's golf team continued its stellar fall campaign with a second-place finish this weekend at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate, firing a season-low 274 (-14) in the final round, clearing third-place by six strokes.

Sophomore Michael Sakane, playing out of the number five spot, fired a final round 66 (-6) to post a -10, 266 (69-71-66) which ended up being good for a tie for third overall on the individual leaderboard. Joining Sakane in the top five was Eduardo Carrete who rolled out a -9, 206 on the strength of a -7, 65 in the final round on Sunday. Sam Uhland added a top 20 to his ledger with a -5, 211 (73-69-69) followed by Thomas Thurloway +3, 219 and Aaeri Krishnan +6, 222.

This second place finish builds on a fourth-place finish at the GolfWeek Conference challenge last month and a dual match victory over Lipscomb in August. The Quail Valley Intercollegiate is on deck for the Dolphins beginning Sunday, Oct. 14 and running through Tuesday, Oct. 16 with one round played each day at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach.
