Dolphins Wrap Up Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational in Fifth Place

VERO BEACH, Fla.
– The Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational came to a close on Tuesday afternoon and the Jacksonville University men's golf team secured a fifth-place finish with a +3, 291 in the final round. Eduardo Carrete closed out a top 10 finish with a +2, 74.

Carrete's trio of birdies bolstered by 11 pars pushed him into a tie for seventh overall in the field of 80. Two more eagles found their way onto Dolphin scorecards on Tuesday. Thomas Thurloway and Sam Uhland each eagled the par 5, fifth hole; Thurloway en route to a -2, 70 and Uhland on his way to a +1, 73. Michael Sakane led the team with four birds on Tuesday to post a +2, 74.

Jacksonville (-2) knocked off the likes of Michigan State (E), Maryland (+1), Notre Dame (+2), Lipscomb (+11) and Nebraska (+12) in the 16-team field. The team was in a fight with Memphis all morning for that fourth position, ultimately coming up just two strokes short.

The fall season has now come to a close for the Dolphins who will rest until the 36-hole match play event opposite North Florida at Pable Creek Golf Club on Monday, Jan. 28. The next team event will take place at the Sea Best Invitational Feb. 4-5 at the Dye's Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass.
