SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After starting the season on a hot streak leading Jacksonville University men's lacrosse in points, junior midfielder Eric Applegate was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Month for February, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon.
Applegate posted a team-high 18 points (12 goals, 6 assists) during the month as the Dolphins went 2-3, with each of their losses coming against nationally-ranked opponents.
The Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. native opened the season with three goals and dished an assist to help the Dolphins to a 12-7 victory over Navy, who entered the contest receiving votes in the preseason Maverik Media Poll. He also picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers against the Midshipmen.
