JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University men's rowing team started its 2017 spring schedule with a pair of races against Temple University for the Jacksonville Sprints on Saturday.
"I was pleased with the first 1000 of the varsity 8's race, but we gave it away in the second half. Temple bested us today with patience, discipline, and consistency, so we'll continue to focus on those three aspects of our training as we head into spring break.
I was impressed with the fight of the 2V – they had a gutsy first half. Much like the V8, we'll continue to work on having a more complete piece from start to finish. I'm excited to see how the rest of the season unfolds," said Head Coach Marci Robles.
In the first Varsity 8, Temple finished in 5:27.58 and Jacksonville in 5:33.36.
In the next race, Temple completed the race in 5:44.37 and Jacksonville in 5:49.70.
JU returns to action at the Knecht Cup on April 8-9.
