Three Dolphins Named to All-Conference Team

Atlantic Sun Release

MACON, Ga. – Three Jacksonville University men's soccer players were named to Atlantic Sun All-Conference teams, the league announced on Tuesday. Junior defender Griffin Kelly was named second-team All-Atlantic Sun while freshman forward Ejiroghene Mrabure was honored twice, joining Kelly on the second team as well as freshman midfielder Rijad Kobiljar on the All-Atlantic Sun Freshman Team.

"I'm very proud of the boys for being honored to the All-Conference teams," said Head Coach Mauricio Ruiz. "They are deserving of the merit, and they should be proud of themselves. I truly believe other members of the team were worthy of a nomination as well, but it is a very competitive league, with many good players, and everyone nominated is deserving of the recognition. We hope in the future to add more players to the All-Conference list."

Just yesterday, Kelly was named to the Academic All-Conference Team for his stellar 3.45 grade point average. Coach Ruiz named Kelly, who was switched from a midfielder to a defender in the early goings of the season, as the team's captain and the move has paid dividends for the Fins. His defensive efforts have assisted JU in posting four shutouts and offensively, he contributed an assist and a game-winning goal.

Mrabure's rookie campaign has net him honors on both the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team and All-Atlantic Sun Freshman Team. This season, he appeared in all 16 matches with 14 starts. Mrabure led the Dolphins in points on four goals and two assists, and tied for 11th in the conference in goals and 13th in points. He scored his first collegiate goal in JU's first win of the season, a 2-0 decision over Florida Atlantic.

The midfielder from Sarajevo, Bosnia appeared in 15 matches with 13 starts. Recording four assists on the season, Kobiljar concluded the year as Jacksonville's leader in the category which also tied for sixth in the A-Sun. A few of his match highlights include posting two assists in his first collegiate game and scoring his first collegiate goal at Appalachian State.
