ORLANDO, Fla. - Jacksonville men's soccer (2-9, 2-0 ASUN) traveled to Orlando to face the UCF Knights (7-2-1, 1-1 AAC). After winning two of their last three matches Jacksonville struggled against the Knights, falling 8-1 in their penultimate non-conference match.
Jacksonville had trouble stopping UCF's attack, which put up eight goals against the Dolphins. Two of the scores came from UCF's Cal Jennings, who leads the American Athletic Conference in goals this season.
The Dolphins were unable to get shots off in the first half, but stepped in up during the second when they got four away. One of the four would sneak through to get Jacksonville on the board in the 89th minute of the match. The goal came from sophomore Connar Lufkin, his first of the season.
The assist on the goal came from Alex Salvador, the first of his collegiate career. Jacksonville goalkeeper Patrick Harding recorded two saves on the evening. Jacksonville will play one more non-conference match this season against Florida Atlantic.
Prior to that, the 'Phins will face conference foe North Florida in a River City Rumble match. The two teams split last season as North Florida won in October, then Jacksonville knocked off the Ospreys 2-1 in the first round of the ASUN Conference tournament.
Jacksonville will be looking to add a third win to their conference record on Friday, Oct. 12 at the Osprey's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. That match will commence at 7 PM.
