Armante' Marshall enters his fourth season with the Jacksonville University men’s soccer team, after being promoted to recruiting coordinator prior to the 2015 campaign. Marshall has been a key factor in the resurgence of the JU men’s soccer program since his arrival in Jacksonville prior to the 2014 campaign. The Dolphins have had seven players receive ASUN All-Conference honors, with four players being named to the ASUN All-Freshman team in the past three seasons. In his second season as recruiting coordinator, the Dolphins reached eight wins, including a 2-0 shutout at South Florida, a 2015 and 2016 NCAA Tournament participant. Marshall helped guide the Dolphins to their first ASUN Conference Championship appearance in eight years during the 2016 campaign, with three players earning ASUN All-Tournament accolades.
Off the field, Marshall has helped the JU men’s soccer team post a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher in each of his three seasons in Jacksonville. The Dolphins have had four players named to the ASUN All-Academic team during that time, and in 2016, Ignazio Muccilli carried the highest GPA in the ASUN Conference amongst men’s soccer players, with a 3.96 cumulative GPA in Business Administration.
An avid recruiter, Marshall has not only helped attract some of the top recruits in the country to JU; he has also played a key role in helping his players move on to the professional ranks. Under his tutelage Rijad Kobiljar (FC Sarajevo) & Joe Amico (Swope Park Rangers- USL) signed professional contracts following their playing careers at Jacksonville University.
Marshall joined the Dolphin staff in July 2014 after serving on staff for his alma mater, the University of South Florida. In a four-year stint with the Bulls he helped guide the men’s soccer team to three straight NCAA tournament appearances, as well as two conference titles in 2011 and 2013. During his time on staff at USF, Marshall played a role in the development of over twenty players who moved on to the professional ranks from 2011-2014. The Bulls had nine players selected in the MLS Super Draft from 2011-2013, with two being 1st round selections (Dom Dwyer- Sporting KC- 2011) (Ben Sweat- Columbus Crew- 2014).
As a player, Marshall started 36 out of 45 career games for the USF Bulls from 2007-09. He was a member of the 2007 team that advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, and was also a key contributor for the 2008 Big East Championship team that advanced to the NCAA Quarter Finals (Elite Eight). During his time at USF, the Bulls held the third longest home winning streak in NCAA history, going 32 games unbeaten (26-0-6) from 2007-2009. Marshall finished his USF career with three goals and three assists. Marshall was also a member of the USF track and field team. He finished his running career as an All-Big East Team selection (2008-2010) and was a part of USF’s record-breaking 4x100 meter relay in 2010.
Prior to transferring to USF, Marshall spent his freshman year at Stetson University where he was captained by current JU Head Coach Mauricio Ruiz. Marshall amassed six goals and four assists at Stetson to earn a spot on the ASUN Freshman All-Conference Team. He also scored the game-winning goal in the 2005 ASUN Conference Championship, earning a spot on the ASUN All-Tournament Team and sending Stetson to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history.
A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Marshall graduated from Lincoln High School in 2005 as the boys soccer All-time leader in points, amassing 80 goals & 66 assist (226 points). Marshall was also a part of Lincoln’s nationally ranked track & field team, becoming a two-time Outdoor track & field All-American in 2004 & 2005, where he was a member of Lincoln’s National Championship 4x100 Relay team. Marshall earned his bachelor’s degree in social science from the University of South Florida in 2010.
