Matthew Loughnane enters his first season with the Jacksonville University men’s soccer team for the 2017 campaign.
Prior to Jacksonville, Loughnane served as the Director of Soccer Operations at his alma mater, Saint Francis University.
As a player, Loughnane appeared in 22 games for the Red Flash before sustaining a career-ending injury during his sophomore season. During his time at SFU as a player, Loughnane helped the Red Flash climb to a program-best 29th national ranking.
During his junior year, Loughnane served in a pivotal leadership role as a Student Assistant Coach. From this role, he helped the team capture the Northeast Conference Regular Season title. As a senior, Loughnane was promoted into a Director of Soccer Operations role, where he focused on creating a digital marketing presence for the team in addition to his on-field and office duties.
Prior to college, Loughnane played for Beadling Soccer Club. Founded in 1898, Beadling is currently one of the oldest operating youth soccer clubs in the United States. Loughnane’s Beadling team captured six state cups, two Region I titles, and two national tournament appearances.
Loughnane earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and management from SFU in 2017. He is from Harrison City, Pennsylvania. His brother, Andrew, is the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Misericordia University in Pennsylvania.
