Men’s Cross Country Selected Eighth In Preseason Coaches’ Poll

MACON, Ga. – The Jacksonville University men's cross country team was picked eighth in the 2016 Atlantic Sun Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office Wednesday.

"We have a hard working group of guys with a good mix of veterans and newcomers," stated Head Coach Ronald Grigg. "We have shown consistent improvement as a program over the last four years and we will work to continue that trend."

The Dolphins will look to senior Jeremy McDermet and sophomore Brett Gerhardt to guide the team this season after pacing JU's returners at last year's ASUN Championships. Gerhardt crossed the line at 27:15.94, while McDermet finished at 27:55.43 in the 8K race.

"McDermet and Gerhardt are our top returners. We will have veteran contributions from Kyle Crews and Drew Overmyer. I expect that freshmen Alex Turnock and Nick Ohlwein will impact our scoring five immediately," continued Grigg.

JU's first test will be September 10, when it heads to the UNF XC Invitational.
