SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Three runners from Jacksonville University's men's cross country team raced their season bests Saturday morning at the ASUN Conference Championship, hosted by USC Upstate.
"The men are a hardworking and dutiful," said Head Coach Ronald Grigg, Jr. "They competed hard."
Turnock, a freshman, led the Dolphins in the 8K race in 27:28.78 to improve his previous best by 23 seconds. Earlier in the season at the FSU Invitational, he finished in 27:51.10.
With a 44-second improvement in the race, Gerhardt crossed the line right after in 27:34.39.
Jeremy McDermet, the Dolphins' lone senior in the race, was the third Dolphin to cross the line. Following McDermet, the freshman duo of Everado Tompkins and Nick Ohlwein also finished back-to-back for JU.
Overmyer's personal gain crossed nearly two minutes and 45 seconds off his previous season-best to round out the Dolphin contingent.
Showing great improvement throughout the season, the Dolphins closed out 2016 with an eighth-place finish at the meet.
