Garman Sets PR at ASUN Championships

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – Jacksonville University men's cross country team closed out the 2017 season with a pair of personal bests – including an impressive PR by senior Jordon Garman – at the 2017 ASUN Conference Championships, Saturday morning at Sam Smith Park.

"The guys had a good day and a solid season," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Ron Grigg. "Really happy for Jordon saving his best for last and having a big personal best."

Garman shattered his previous career time by almost two minutes as he finished the 8,000-meter race in 28:15.5. His previous best was set earlier this season at the FSU Invitational in 30:09.3.

The sophomore duo of Brett Gerhardt and Alex Turnock paced the Dolphins as the pair crossed the line within seconds of each other. Gerhardt finished in 27:25.6, while Turnock followed in 27:32.1.

Freshman Peter Dugan and sophomore Nick Ohlwein rounded out the Dolphin contingent, and Dugan improved on his career best by 20 seconds.

Lipscomb was crowned ASUN Champions with a total time of 2:02.11.

Qualifying Dolphins will race again in two weeks on Nov. 10 at the NCAA South Region Championship in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
