JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After leading Jacksonville University men's cross country all season, Alex Turnock will represent the Dolphins at the 2017 NCAA South Region Championships, held Friday, Nov. 10 at the Harry Pritchett Running Park in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The women's 6,000-meter race starts at 10 a.m. EST, while the men's 10,000-meter race begins an hour later at 11 a.m. EST.

With 231 student-athletes in the men's field, Turnock will compete against members from 34 different teams in the South Region, including No. 21 Middle Tennessee State, No. 28 Alabama, and No. 29 Ole Miss. It will be Turnock's first 10K race of this season.

The Jacksonville, Fla. native led Jacksonville in each of JU's four regular season meets, and was the second Dolphin to cross the line at the ASUN Championships. The sophomore also ran a season-best 27:19.3 at the FSU Invitational 8K.

Last season, Turnock was one of two Dolphins to represent JU at the South Regional and finished the 10K race in 36:12.2.
