Garman, Turnock Earn First Career ASUN All-Academic Honors

MACON, Ga. – Jacksonville University men's cross country runners Jordon Garman and Alex Turnock have been named to the ASUN Conference All-Academic Team, as announced by the league Thursday.

"We are all happy to see Alex and Jordon recognized for their combination of academic and athletic achievements," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Ron Grigg. "They are great representatives of the of the student-athlete experience provided by Jacksonville University. We are appreciative of the excellent professors and advisors who help guide the our students throughout their academic career."

Garman holds a 4.0 GPA while pursuing his master's degree in kinesiology. The senior from Stuart, Fla. raced in each of JU's five cross country meets during the season, and capped his final ASUN Championships by shattering his previous personal best by nearly two minutes.

Turnock, a Jacksonville, Fla. native, holds a 3.82 GPA studying kinesiology. The sophomore paced JU in four of the five meets this year, and was the second Dolphin to cross the finish line at the ASUN Championships. Turnock's personal best, set at the FSU Invitational, qualified him to race at the NCAA South Region Championship Nov. 10 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The pair's efforts helped the Dolphins finish eighth at the 2017 ASUN Championships.
