TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Sophomore Alex Turnock set a new personal record in the 10,000-meter race as he represented Jacksonville University men's cross country at the NCAA South Region Championships, Friday morning at Harry Pritchett Running Park.
"Alex had a steady effort and gained valuable experience," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Ron Grigg.
Turnock finished the 10K race in 35:41.1, nearly half a minute quicker than his previous career-best of 36:12.2 in the distance, set at last year's NCAA South Regional.
The Jacksonville, Fla. native qualified for the South Regional after he helped the Dolphins place sixth as a team at the FSU Invitational and led the team in the 8K race with a time of 27:19.3.
Turnock and the Dolphins finished eighth overall at the 2017 ASUN Conference Championships.
