JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University Softball stumbled in the final two games of the Jacksonville Invitational, falling to Iowa State 3-2 and to Campbell 7-1. The Dolphins (11-8) finished the weekend tied for a tournament-best three wins.
Although the JU bats went quiet in the final day of the invitational, a handful of Dolphins enjoyed a prolific weekend at the plate. Madison Ragan was 7-for-15 with two home runs and three RBI in five games and Heather Roberts was 4-for-13 with seven RBI in four.
In the circle, Alyssa Bilodeau held opponents to just two earned runs on nine hits in 12 and two-thirds innings.
vs. Iowa State
Seana Mora held Iowa State (10-10) scoreless until the third inning. Kalia Konz led off that frame with a bunt single. She advance to third on a double by Sami Williams, before a single by Taylor Nearad gave the Cyclones a 1-0 lead. An RBI single later in the inning by Sydney Stites put Iowa State up 2-0.
Brianna Weilbacher held the Dolphins scoreless through six innings, but couldn't hold the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Still facing a 2-0 deficit, Jacksonville tied the game on an RBI double by Danielle Baker.
In the eighth, Sally Woolpert bunted the placed-runner over to third to open the inning, and an error on the following at-bat allowed the go-ahead run to score.
JU's placed-runner in the bottom of the frame moved to third on a wild pitch with nobody out, but was stranded there.
Weilbacher earned the win for Campbell. Bilodeau was charged with the loss for only allowing one unearned run in five and two-thirds innings.
Powered by a 8-for-11, six RBI day for the Camels' two, three and four hitters, Campbell (10-11) redeemed their eight-run-rule loss to JU in the Jacksonville Invitational opener with a 7-1 win in the weekend finale.
Megan Richards earned the win, holding JU to one earned run on four hits in seven innings. Haley Holloway was charged with the loss.
