JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville softball continues nonconference action Wednesday, March 7 when it plays host to Mercer under the lights at Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Dolphins opened March with the Jacksonville Invitational – a tournament cohosted by UNF – that included games against Campbell, Iowa State, Presbyterian, and Virginia Tech. On day one, the Dolphins defeated Campbell in five innings, 11-1, as Heather Roberts and Madison Ragan both blasted moon shots to lead the hosts.
The following day, Jacksonville swept the competition with a 4-3 victory over the Hokies in eight innings, followed by a 9-1 drubbing of the Blue Hose in five. Allie McCourt drove in a pair of runs against Virginia Tech, while Roberts, Ragan, and Makenzie Buss all hit four-baggers to down Presbyterian.
The third and final day saw the Dolphins' luck run its course as Iowa State needed extra innings to defeat the Dolphins, 3-2, in eight, while the Camels from Campbell avenged their loss on day one in the nightcap with a 7-1 win.
The Bears enter the Wednesday's contest with a 14-5 record overall, but are just 2-2 on the road this season.

Mercer holds a 12-16 advantage in the all-time series with Jacksonville, and the Bears have won the last three meetings between the teams. The series in Jacksonville is led by Mercer, with a slight 7-6 edge.
The Dolphins brace themselves for colder weather this weekend as they head up north to College Park, Maryland for the Maryland Invitational. Jacksonville opens the tournament on Friday, March 9 against Yale at 12:30 p.m.
