JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's basketball team will continue Winter Break action at the UNF Holiday Classic. The two-day tournament will see the Dolphins face Edward Waters College Tuesday and Northern Kentucky Wednesday.
Both games are scheduled for 12 p.m. and will be held on the campus of North Florida.
JU's Last Outing
In a game of runs, the Dolphins displayed endurance and resiliency in their 68-58 victory at Bethune-Cookman this past Sunday. Jacksonville trailed the Wildcats by seven points at halftime, before opening the third quarter with a 16-4 run.
The penultimate period concluded in a 42-42 tie, and it became a three-point game, 53-50, in favor of the 'Phins with 3:23 remaining in the game.
Jasmyn Brown swished three unanswered three-pointers and a free-throw to close the game for good.
Two For the Money
Kayla Gordon recorded her third double-double of the season at Bethune-Cookman with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Naqaiyyah Teague recorded her first in a Dolphin uniform on 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior captain Kayla Gordon has 23 career double-doubles to her credit, and earned her first of the 2017-18 season at Nicholls State with 13 rebounds and 11 points.

2015-16 | 7 DD
2016-17 | 8 DD
2017-18 | 3 DD
The last time Jacksonville welcomed two players to the 1K Club was in the 2015-16 season. Briona Brown, who currently ranks fourth all-time in points and is the older sister of Jasmyn Brown, entered first and Sherranda Reddick, the Dolphins' all-time leading scorer, joined the club a few games later.
What Can Brown Do For You?
When the game is on the line, the Dolphins can call on junior captain Jasmyn Brown to knock down the big shot. She embarked on a 10-0 run – highlighted by three three-pointers – to help the Dolphins cruise to a 68-58 victory at Bethune-Cookman, and recorded the game-winner at South Alabama on a lay-in with 3.3 seconds left on the clock.
A game prior, she posted a career-high 29 points at Troy, a mark that ranks third most in Dolphin history in a single game, and nearly recorded the game-winner on a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds on the clock but a Trojan lay-in negated the effort.
Scouting the Opposition – Edward Waters
The EWC Lady Tigers are 13-1 on the season with their lone loss occurring in their season-opening weekend in a 66-63 decision against Florida Memorial. The team's 12 consecutive wins is a program record.
Jacksonville leads the all-time series versus EWC, 1-0. The team's lone official matchup – there have been several exhibitions through the years – took place in the 2015-16 season and the Dolphins won, 90-51.
Scouting the Opposition – Northern Kentucky
The Norse (1-7) are searching for their first win in three games since a 103-25 victory over Oakland City.
In a series that dates back to the 2012-13 season, the all-time results are even at 3-3.
