Gordon Uses Leadership To Earn Pepsi Student-Athlete Of The Month

JACKSONVILLE Fla.- Leading her team to a 6-2 record over the past month, women's basketball senior captain Kayla Gordon has been selected as the Pepsi Co. Student-Athlete of the Month for December.

The Meridian, Miss. native averaged nearly a double-double in eight contests, putting up 10.3 points and 8.5 assists per-game. She led the squad in points in wins over Flagler, Bethune-Cookman, and Northern Kentucky, amounting double-digits in each contest. She totaled a season-high 35 minutes on the court in the win over the Norse, posting a double-double in the effort.

Named ASUN Freshman of the Year three seasons ago, Gordon has steadied the Dolphins with her leadership and consistency throughout her JU career. Currently third on the team in scoring with 10.3 points-per-game, she leads the conference in rebounds-per-contest, with nine a game.

The Dolphins finished non-conference play with a record of 10-5, posting double-digit wins prior to ASUN action for the second straight season.
