Detmer, Forsland Earn Conference Distinctions

BRASELTON, Ga. – Jacksonville University women's golf claimed three honors among two golfers at the ASUN banquet leading into the ASUN Championship.

Amanda Detmer and Michelle Forsland were both recognized by the league on Saturday.

"Amanda and Michelle are both deserving of these awards because they put in the extra time and work hard for it," said Head Coach Jennifer Borocz. "They both put school and golf first, and it shows."

Detmer earned First Team All-ASUN recognition, as well as being named to the ASUN All-Academic team. It is her second first team all-conference honor, her first since her freshman year in 2016. It is also her first all-academic award, and the team's first since Jessica Welch in 2015.

"It's a special honor to be recognized on the All-Academic Team," said Borocz. "Amanda is going to graduate with her bachelor's degree this spring and then focus on her masters during her final year of eligibility.

"This takes someone who has good time management and is a hard worker."

Forsland earned conference recognition for the second straight year. The sophomore was ASUN Freshman of the Year and a first team all-conference selection last season.

This is the seventh straight season that JU has had an all-conference selection, and the fifth straight year that the Dolphins have had a first-teamer.

The ASUN Championship starts Sunday at Chateau Elan Legends Course in Braselton, Ga. Live scoring can found at Golfstat.
